The story, based on the advice of the Great Buddha and the thief, teaches a life-long lesson. The story goes something like this. There was a very old man in a city who was a thief by profession. ,
The thief had a son of sixteen years. When the thief became very old, he started teaching his son to steal.
Within a few days, the boy became expert in stealing. Father and son started living a comfortable life. One day the thief said to his son, ‘Son, you should not listen to the words of a saint.
If an important person is talking at a place and you do not agree with his point of view, cover your ears and leave the place.
“Yes Father, I understand.” One day the boy thought why not wash his hands in the king’s palace today?
Thinking like this he went there. After going a little further, he saw that some people were standing together on the side of the road. He asked a man passing by, “Why did so many people gather at that place?”
The man said, “There is a very wise man talking.” When he heard this, he did not want to hear what the wise man was saying. He put his fingers in his ears and ran away.
As he moved towards a group of people, he accidentally tripped over a cliff and fell. Just then, a wise man named Mahatma Ji was talking about how important it is to always speak the truth and not be upset about someone who is kind to you. These words caught his attention. He quickly stood up and covered his ears, then went towards the king’s palace. When he reached, a sentry stopped him and asked where he was going and who he was.
He remembered the words of Mahatma that ‘one should not lie’. The thief decided to tell the truth today. He replied, “I am a thief. I am going to steal.”
Once upon a time, there was a man who wanted to be a servant in a luxurious palace. But instead, he decided to play a trick and become a thief. He sneaked into the palace by telling the truth, which was actually very secret! Then He found a room full of lots of money and glittering jewelry and was overjoyed. He put all the money in a bag and went to another room, which was the kitchen. There were all kinds of delicious food, and he couldn’t help but eat some. But then he remembered some wise advice that said don’t feel bad for eating someone’s food. So he decided to leave the money bag and go back. The sentry asked him why he didn’t steal, and he had to come up with a good excuse.
You should not be worried if someone takes your belongings. I ate the king’s food, so I didn’t steal anything. I left it in the kitchen and then I left.
Meanwhile, the cook shouted, “Hurry! Catch the thief, he is trying to escape!” The guard sentry caught the thief and brought him to a place where they decided whether he had done anything wrong or not.
The king asked someone why did they say that they were thieves when asked by the watchman. The man said that he called himself a thief because a wise man told him so, because he was actually planning to steal. They not only took the king’s money, but also ate his food, which had something extra called salt.
That’s why he didn’t do any wrong with you and left quickly without taking money.
The king liked the boy’s words and gave him a job. When the boy did not come home for a few days, his father was worried. But after four days the boy came back dressed in fancy clothes, much to the surprise of his father.
The boy said – “Oh father, you always used to tell me not to listen to any Mahatma person.
I followed the Mahatma’s advice and did as he said. Because of this, I got a very good job in a luxurious palace.
